MCA Distance Education Overview

MCA Distance Education Eligibility & Duration
To be eligible to join the MCA Distance Education program at Bharathiar University, one needs to have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Applications, Computer Science, or any other equivalent degree. Candidates who have completed their degree in other disciplines but have Mathematics or Statistics as their subjects at either the 10+2 or degree level are also eligible to apply.
For candidates who have completed their degree in BCA or Computer Science, the duration of the program is 2 years (4 semesters). But for candidates who have completed their degree in other disciplines and are not from the computer science stream, the program may be extended to 3 years (6 semesters) with an additional foundation semester to make them well-versed in core computing concepts.
The online admission procedure is done through the CDOE portal. Candidates need to submit their online application form, upload their documents, and pay the required fee online. After the verification of the documents, the candidate receives confirmation of admission.
The assessment process comprises internal assignments, end-of-term exams, and a final project that verifies the technical competency of the student.
After completion, students can look for various career paths in software companies, IT consultancies, and government bodies or opt for further education like Ph.D. or research in computer science and related disciplines.
